A Distinguished Career at General Atlantic
David Topper joined General Atlantic (GA) in 2012 as an Operating Partner. In this role, he managed the firm’s overall relationships with the financial community and led its global capital markets activities. He also provided strategic counsel to GA and its portfolio companies as a member of the firm’s Portfolio Committee, where his insight and experience were instrumental in shaping long-term growth strategies.
Beyond GA, Mr. Topper served on the boards of Amherst Pierpont and TASC, and previously served on the board of Affinion Group, further reflecting the trust placed in his leadership across the financial services sector.
Leadership at J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley
Prior to joining General Atlantic, David Topper built an extraordinary career on Wall Street. He joined J.P. Morgan in 2005 as Co-Head of Equity Capital Markets and went on to hold several of the firm’s most senior roles, including Chairman of Equity Capital Markets, Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, and Chairman of the Commitments Committee. During his tenure, he led many of the firm’s major advisory and capital-raising transactions across financial institutions, healthcare, media, and other key sectors.
Before J.P. Morgan, Mr. Topper spent 22 years at Morgan Stanley, where he served as Co-Head of U.S. Equity Capital Markets, Managing Director, and Chairman of the Equity Commitment Committee, among numerous other senior management positions.
